Interesting Things to Use a 3D Scanner On

So, a 3D scanner is used for very serious purposes on a day to day basis, often scanning parts of aeroplanes, jets and sports cars which need to be replaced because of fairly serious crashes or incidents. But, wouldn't it be great if this amazing piece of technology could be used to scanner more comical objects.

A goat
OK so you may be thinking 'why would anyone ever need to scan a goat in 3D' but there could be loads of reasons. For example, there may be a piece of research about the average height of goats or even how quickly they grow from birth to 2 months old!
This kind of data could even be sourced by Veterinary centres or even Universities which teach veterinary courses.

A cactus
There are so many varieties of Cactus out there and so it may be interesting to acquire a 3D scan of each type in order to allow convenient and precise comparisons of each one.
It has been found that certain elements of certain cacti are able to cure illness or help prevent people from becoming ill.

A potato
There are so many things you can do with potatoes, make chips, electrical clocks and even make vodka out of them. So, why not scan them? You never know what could be done with this type of information but it would be great to experiment with growing conditions and then exactly how the potatoes grow in each.
So as you can see 3D scanning machines could be adapted to all sorts of situations, they do not only need to be used for purely mechanical purposed.
